2015 Trends: Folk

Each year, the team at Gloria Duchin compiles a Trend Intelligence guide based on color stories, textures, materials, and moods that we see as being popular in fashion and home decor. These trend often trickle down into holiday decor, and we use them as a guideline in creating new product.

We will be giving you an exclusive look at our Trend Intelligence guide throughout the next few weeks. Our next trend is Folk:

It’s a reimagined rebellion going back to the roots of earth and nature. Warm browns and golds dance with burgundy and hunter green. In fashion, soft cottons mix with bohemian lace tops, worn leather boots, and distressed leather handbags. Worldly patterns shake hands with turquoise, beaded jewelry.

In the home, repurposed mason jars make for accessory holders. Nature comes indoors with hanging terrariums, and even new furniture has a weathered look, painted in a worn dusty green with stained brass handles. The songs in our hearts sing of freedom:  the freedom to live, to travel and to explore.

For the holidays, look for icons of nature, owls and deer and trees along with icons of movement and freedom. Peace signs are still running strong along with brushed metal finishes like pewter.

2015 Trends: Disco

Each year, the team at Gloria Duchin compiles a Trend Intelligence guide based on color stories, textures, materials, and moods that we see as being popular in fashion and home decor. These trend often trickle down into holiday decor, and we use them as a guideline in creating new product.

We will be giving you an exclusive look at our Trend Intelligence guide throughout the next few weeks. Our next trend is Disco:

Bold and vivid pinks, greens, purples, yellows and blues blend together in a hypnotic rhythm that inspires movement. Vibrant patterns collide on oversized pants, and synthetic, shimmering fabrics groove across track suits and pleated skirts. A pair of patent leather green heels are the ultimate dancing shoes.

In the home, bright colors meet with varied textures for an incomparable duet. A bold, green credenza is coated in a vinyl gloss while a pair of neon, yellow armchairs mix soft cushions with sleek, wooden arms. Hand towels have pop-up marigold designs that are as exciting to look at as they are to touch.

Fun, is the ultimate word in jewelry and accessories. Whimsical icons meet with swirling colors and glitter accents for a look that reminds of us of the carefree days of disco.

2015 Trends: Classical

Each year, the team at Gloria Duchin compiles a Trend Intelligence guide based on color stories, textures, materials, and moods that we see as being popular in fashion and home decor. These trend often trickle down into holiday decor, and we use them as a guideline in creating new product.

In looking toward 2015 for trends, we were inspired by music, and the many different genres that are encompassed within it. Musical movements can define an era or spark a revolution. It is a universal language, yet it varies so much from culture to culture. We chose five musical genres that we felt encompassed a variety of moods and color stories. We will be giving you an exclusive look at our Trend Intelligence guide throughout the next few weeks. Our first trend is Classical:

It’s a soft, siren song comprised of subtle sounds and sultry violins. Picture muted hues in off-white, pale gray, dusty pinks and blues. Swirling lines intersect with the harsh staccato of hard edges in white, boxy tops paired with metallic accessories fashioned in geometric shapes.  The result is a symphony for our eyes.

In the home, simple classic lines take center stage in a minimal decorating scheme with plenty of wide open spaces. Accent pieces emerge in unconventional stylings with hexagonal pots and outlined chandeliers. Pops of metallics add depth and dimension to design.

For the season, silhouetted icons dangle from trees in sleek and flowing silver and rose gold lines, and faceted beads and crystals add that geometric sparkle.

Gloria Duchin, Inc. at New York Fashion Week

Gloria Duchin, in partnership with Chainge Jewelry, showcased their dog tag bracelet as part of the Fatigues to Fabulous "Salute the Runway" show to kick off New York Fashion Week. Chainge founder, David Audette, knew Gloria Duchin, Inc. was the go-to designer and manufacturer in the area, which was why he went to them first when asked by the Fatigues to Fabulous (F2F) organization to create a made in the USA bracelet design for the organization. The company was honored to take part in this collaboration because of the F2F’s mission, helping women veterans re-establish themselves in civilian life. Since Gloria Duchin, Inc. is a woman-owned, domestic company, it was an ideal fit.

Utilizing the groundbreaking Chainge chain, the company designed silvertone dogtags especially for F2F, hand silk-screened with their logo and a second dogtag personalized with the names of fourteen women veterans. These brave women modeled the bracelets in the Salute the Runway fashion show that took place on Wednesday September 3rd, during Fashion Week.

Wearing little black dresses by renowned designers like Marc Jacobs, DKNY and Michael Kors, these incredible and inspiring women showed the world they are as beautiful as they are brave.

Coached earlier in the day by supermodel, Hilary Rhoda, the veteran models looked nothing short of professional the night of the show, that in addition to hosting other women veterans, drew in celebrities like Lauren Hutton and Carmen Marc Valvo in support of the organization.

“This has been such a wonderful experience,” said Robyn Smalletz, CEO and President of Gloria Duchin, Inc. “These women are so lovely and grateful to be here. We were proud that Fatigues to Fabulous selected us to design their jewelry for the show.”

In addition to Gloria Duchin, Inc. and Chainge, the show sponsors included Little Black Dress Wines, Aveda, Bobbi Brown and Shout.

Because the company was so moved by the F2F mission and the reaction to the bracelets was so strong, they opted to retail the bracelets after the show at www.gloriaduchin.com. The purchase price is $29.99 with 15% going to Fatigues to Fabulous to help more women achieve their post-military dreams.
