Welcome to: The Jewelry District

Welcome to: The Jewelry District
PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND

Located just south of downtown Providence by Interstate 195, this neighborhood was home to a great number of jewelry manufacturers during the late 19th century. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, the Providence Jewelry Manufacturing Historic District features various Greek Revival and Federal style buildings from the 19th century. While few of the buildings still stand today as their original purpose, they hold a vast amount of history and commemorate a once thriving manufacturing area with their rich architecture. Most buildings have been since adapted for reuse as commercial or living spaces.

Jewelry manufacturers including Gloria Duchin Inc. and Alex & Ani, began with roots in Rhode Island, are still successfully operating today and stand out from the rest with their Made In USA products.
