2015 Trends: Classical

Each year, the team at Gloria Duchin compiles a Trend Intelligence guide based on color stories, textures, materials, and moods that we see as being popular in fashion and home decor. These trend often trickle down into holiday decor, and we use them as a guideline in creating new product.

In looking toward 2015 for trends, we were inspired by music, and the many different genres that are encompassed within it. Musical movements can define an era or spark a revolution. It is a universal language, yet it varies so much from culture to culture. We chose five musical genres that we felt encompassed a variety of moods and color stories. We will be giving you an exclusive look at our Trend Intelligence guide throughout the next few weeks. Our first trend is Classical:

It’s a soft, siren song comprised of subtle sounds and sultry violins. Picture muted hues in off-white, pale gray, dusty pinks and blues. Swirling lines intersect with the harsh staccato of hard edges in white, boxy tops paired with metallic accessories fashioned in geometric shapes.  The result is a symphony for our eyes.

In the home, simple classic lines take center stage in a minimal decorating scheme with plenty of wide open spaces. Accent pieces emerge in unconventional stylings with hexagonal pots and outlined chandeliers. Pops of metallics add depth and dimension to design.

For the season, silhouetted icons dangle from trees in sleek and flowing silver and rose gold lines, and faceted beads and crystals add that geometric sparkle.

Stay tuned for our next trend: Disco
