2015 Trends: Folk

Each year, the team at Gloria Duchin compiles a Trend Intelligence guide based on color stories, textures, materials, and moods that we see as being popular in fashion and home decor. These trend often trickle down into holiday decor, and we use them as a guideline in creating new product.

We will be giving you an exclusive look at our Trend Intelligence guide throughout the next few weeks. Our next trend is Folk:

It’s a reimagined rebellion going back to the roots of earth and nature. Warm browns and golds dance with burgundy and hunter green. In fashion, soft cottons mix with bohemian lace tops, worn leather boots, and distressed leather handbags. Worldly patterns shake hands with turquoise, beaded jewelry.

In the home, repurposed mason jars make for accessory holders. Nature comes indoors with hanging terrariums, and even new furniture has a weathered look, painted in a worn dusty green with stained brass handles. The songs in our hearts sing of freedom:  the freedom to live, to travel and to explore.

For the holidays, look for icons of nature, owls and deer and trees along with icons of movement and freedom. Peace signs are still running strong along with brushed metal finishes like pewter.

Stay tuned for our next trend: Jazz
