Looking to 2016: Royalty Trend

This trend is one of lush decadence, drawing inspiration from the upper class aesthetics of various cultures, religions, and historical eras. The color story is deep and highly saturated jewel tones reminiscent of hand-dyed fabrics and the rich plant-based pigments of the past. Fabrics and surface textures are ornately adorned with intricate patterns. We look to Morocco, India, and the Middle Age era in Europe for surface design, materials, and color schemes. In fashion, home décor, and holiday, crystals, beads, and metallic finishes can be seen as an overarching theme for this trend.

In fashion, the Royalty trend can be seen in deep jewel tone velvets, and fabrics dripping in crystals. Laser-cut filigree patterns add a modern twist to an ornately beaded gown. References to Middle Age religious iconography take center stage on dresses, and crowns, rings, and necklaces make a big statement. Even manicures are reflecting the rich, velvety jewel tone colors.

In the home, metal accents are seen in antique bronze finishes with intricate, laser-cut filigree surface textures. Bedding, upholstery, and accent fabrics show a mix of textures such as velvet, satin, and suede. Mixing and matching patterns and jewel tone hues can also be seen in the home.

For the holiday season, we look to royal iconography, such as the fleur di lis. Rich jewel tone accents on pewter and gold tone finishes, and big areas of glitter and crystals add a classic and timeless look to your tree.
